Swiss Steak

Mom's recipe, my comfort food.

Ingredients:

1 1/2 Lb Round Beef Steak, 3/4 inch thick

3 TBSP All-purpose Flour

1 tsp Salt

2 TBSP Margarine

1 16oz can Tomatoes cut

1 small Onion sliced

1 stalk Celery sliced

1 medium Carrot sliced

1 tsp Worchestershire sauce

Hot cooked Rice or Potatoes

Procedure:

1. Combine flour and salt. Pound 2 TBSP flour miture into meat.

2. In a 10 inch skillet brown meat both sides in oil or margarine. Drain off excess fat. Transfer meat to 12 x 8 baking dish.

3. Add undrained tomatoes, onions, celery, carrot, and Worcestershire. Cook and stir till thick and bubbly. Cook 2 minutes more. Pour over meat in baking dish.

3. Bake uncoverd in a 350F oven for 1 hour 20 minutes till meat is tender. Serve over rice or with potatoes.
